“It tasted just like a regular smoothie”

I had a rough time after my first birth, first baby blues and then postpartum depression. I was worried about the depression returning and having two children to care for during my second pregnancy. I learned about placenta ingestion from my midwife, Tammi McKinley, and the benefits in the immediate postpartum period. I decided to give it a try! My husband made me placenta smoothies a couple times a day. It tasted just like a regular smoothie – no way of knowing the special ingredient! I had a wonderful 4th trimester and was able to enjoy having a newborn. I had exactly one day of baby blues – the day my husband told me I’d had the last smoothie. So my tip for other moms: have a placebo smoothie for a week or so! And, enjoy! ~LWV
